Frequently Asked Questions

How much weight do you lose with slimming injections?

On average, our patients lose between 8 and 12% of their body weight in 3-6 months in our Medical Weight Loss with Injections* program.

Because we combine the injections with a powerful proven effective diet, you not only lose weight externally but also internally. In 3 months time, a strongly improved body composition can usually be seen.

This means that someone has less fat around the organs in the abdomen, also known as visceral fat” (or: inner fat). This leads to major health gains. Inner fat is very unhealthy fat that releases many inflammatory substances and increases the risk of diabetes, among other things. It's hidden fat that you don't see until you start looking at someone's body composition.

We do this by measuring with the gold standard in the field of body composition: the BodPod. How much weight and inner fat you lose exactly, of course, also depends on the extent to which you adhere to the diet prescribed by us and to what extent you follow the recipes from the book that comes with this program.

How much does the treatment with slimming injections cost?

The treatment with injections costs approx. €449 for 3 months and approx. €899 for 6 months. This includes 3 or 6 months of nutritional and lifestyle guidance from your treatment team, so that you get the most out of your injections. In addition, you pay approximately € 135 per month for the medication itself.

Does my insurer reimburse weight loss with medication?

Losing weight with medication is only reimbursed by the health insurer under certain conditions. For more information, please contact us so that we can check whether you meet these criteria.

If you do not meet the criteria (because, for example, you are just under the prescribed BMI) then this treatment falls under Lifestyle Docs Clinics Private Care. You must then pay for your medication yourself.

How do slimming injections work for overweight people?

Saxenda is an injectable, once-a-day, drug similar to the natural GLP-1 hormone. It regulates appetite by reducing the feeling of appetite and hunger and increasing the feeling of satiety. This will make you eat less and therefore lose weight. The injections are available by prescription only. You can easily administer the injections yourself with a pre-filled pen. Before you use the pen for the first time, we will show you how to use the pen.

How quickly do the slimming injections work?

The dose of Saxenda must be built up in 4 weeks. Experiences of our patients show that Saxenda has an almost immediate effect on the feeling of hunger and satiety, but that mild side effects can also occur in the beginning, such as headache (heavy head) and nausea. If someone has not lost at least 5% of their initial body weight after 12 weeks of using the 3.0 mg daily dose, we will stop the treatment.

Will I get help with the injections?

If one of our medical specialists decides with you that the lancing device is the best option for you, you will receive a complete explanation including a construction schedule. You will receive instructions on how to inject and, if you want, help with the first time. So you will see that it is very simple.

What are the risks or side effects of losing weight with injections?

The most common side effects of Saxenda injections (3 mg/day) are gastrointestinal side effects and headache. More than 10% of patients experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. These complaints usually subside within a few days or weeks and disappear on their own.
